Export and sustainability systemic change

Those who are lucky enough to travel to developing countries have been able to see the huge gap that separates poor countries from rich countries. Despite all the today’s economic intelligence and technologies, we have not managed to eradicate extreme poverty around the world. Liberalism and globalization are challenged by recurring crisis. The world has been and is destabilized by an infinite minority of people. We have to change or mind and attitude.

“No challenge poses a greater threat to future generations than climate change.” Barack Obama

Facing two major challenges for the planet, financial inequalities and environmental degradation, which will upset the life and health of hundreds of millions of human beings, what attitude should we adopt in our approach to international conquest ?

Resistance

During the second World War, despite the Nazi invasion, faced with an unbearable situation, part of occupied population reacted to defend its endangered values. Resisting is effectively fighting injustice, refusing to accept the situation and fighting to change it.

We can draw inspiration from this approach in our development plans.

Building a resilient business model

We can, through our everyday decisions and actions, work to transform a devastating economy through an alternative system that is fairer, more equitable, more ethical, more supportive.

For years, models of economic development based on subsidies and mass imports have only had the effect of exploiting the resources of the countries we were supposed to help. In most cases, it was realized that GDP growth was not benefiting people. Our modes of development can take into account the evolution of population in terms of education, health, fundamental rights, cultural protection… And brands have a decisive role to play in order to build a decarbonized and resilient sustainable society.

  • Import less.
  • Export less.
  • Replace energy-consuming supply-chain operations by sustainable local developments.
  • Promote technology transfers to produce locally.
  • Produce less but differently and better with eco-design.
  • Monitor resource consumption.
  • Do and follow your carbon footprint and set KPI.
  • Have a compatible approach to natural ecosystems and human communities.
  • Respect cultures and promote personal development.
  • Replace the notion of profit with the notion of cultural and ethical enrichment.
  • Influence decision-makers.

Even if we have to be effective in our market conquest, we shall try to back-up this conquest with ethical actions. Thus, we can hope to improve things intelligently and protect future generations and species.

When you travel and look at these men, women and children, think about what you see and ask yourself how it is possible for us to concretely make things happen at our level.

You can act yourself or support organizations.
